TBS DigiCon6 AwardsDream Cortex today announced that the animated TV series produced in partnership with Sanrio Digital, The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends, has won the DigiCon6 Award 2008 “Prize for Effort” Certificate for the Hong Kong region. The Hong Kong regional award ceremony was held this afternoon (March 25th 2008) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The DigiCon6 Awards, organized by Japan TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System), has been one of the most recognized animation awards in Japan.  The award is opened to Japan and other Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, India, Taiwan, Jordan, Thailand and Malaysia.

There there a total of 2,248 entries for the 10th DigiCon6 Awards.

We are extremely honored to receive the 2008 Hong Kong ICT Awards with our Hello Kitty animated series.  Well it’s not just one but a total of four awards, including Best 3D Animation, Best TV Series, Best Modeling & Texturing, and Best Lighting & Rendering.

By the way our Hello Kitty Online has also won the Hong Kong ICT Awards for Best Computer Graphics.  What a great and happy day for us all yesterday!

“The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” recognized with Awards for Best 3D Animation and Best TV Series

Hong Kong, 10 February 2009 – Dream Cortex ( today announced that its 3D CGI animated series “The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” (Season Two), produced in partnership with Sanrio Digital (Hong Kong) (, won awards in four categories at the 2008 Hong Kong ICT Awards. The awards are Best 3D Animation, Best TV Series, Best Modeling & Texturing, and Best Lighting & Rendering.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards ( is a yearly collaborative effort among digital entertainment organizations, ICT professional bodies, academia and the Government to select and honor Hong Kong’s finest accomplishments in IT and digital entertainment. The presentation ceremony was held on February 9, 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” is licensed by Sanrio Digital (Hong Kong), who shares the awards with Dream Cortex. This is the first Sanrio television production made in Hong Kong, and the first Sanrio series made entirely in CGI (Computer Generated Imaging). “The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” offers an entertaining and often humorous way for children to learn about social interaction and behaviour while following the adventures of some of the world’s best-loved and most recognizable Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Keroppi, Badtz Maru and Pochacco.

The first season of “The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” aired in various territories, including Italy, France, Belgium, Norway, Finland, Portugal, Singapore, Philippine, Thailand and Hong Kong. The second season started airing in Italy in September 2008 and will soon start airing in other territories.

“The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” is co-directed by Dream Cortex Creative Leader Philip Lau and Emmy Award nominee Matthew Swanson. Songs were written and composed by Hollywood based composer Greg Chun.

This is the TV Ad that Dream Cortex made for Empire Interactive‘s latest NDS game – Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams. The TV Ad has been airing on North American TV channels and is now available on YouTube.

When the game becomes available in Europe next year there will be European versions of the TV Ad in French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams is a fun, exciting and cute adventure for the Nintendo DS, featuring the hugely popular Hello Kitty characters and several mini-games. Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams is distributed by Atari, Inc. in North America under an exclusive multi-year distribution deal between Atari and Empire Interactive.

Here at Dream Cortex we are busy developing more Flash mini-games for Hello Kitty Online, the forth-coming MMORPG to be released in 2009. Players will have access to several mini-games during their adventure in SanrioTown, and will be able to play against each other or solo. Mini-games are an important part of Hello Kitty’s MMORPG.

Four mini-games are nearly complete and in the testing phase: “Keroppi’s Goal Shootout”, “Purin’s Coffeehouse Challenge”, “Landry’s Laundromat” and “Kurousa’s Circus Challenge”.  The mini-games are a blend of colourful 2D graphics and 3D animation, and all have great background music by composer Greg Chun, who provided the score to the award-winning animated series The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends. “The Adventures of Hello Kitty & Friends” trailer has the most popular video in the “Film & Animation – Hong Kong” category on YouTube Hong Kong. As of November 25, 2008, the clip was ranked number 1 on both “Most Viewed (All Time)” and “Most Favorited (All Time)” in its category.

The clip also came in 4th place for “Most Discussed (All Time)”, 5th place for “Top Rated (All Time)”, and 9th place for “Most Responded (All Time)”.

Dream Cortex is now in development for a free-to-play 3D game soon to be available at  The game is based on Unity game engine (, an advanced technology that allows to develop and deploy 3D games supporting by many modern web browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and most Mozilla-based browsers.  Unity is highly optimized with its real-time 3D rendering, which means players with old computer hardware and drivers would still be able to enjoy the 3D game without the compromise of performance and quality.Unity

This very first Unity 3D game for will be featuring with Badtz Maru. Players are required to control Badtz Maru and to catch all the running penguins as quickly as possible.  Challenges and enjoyments enhanced as players advance from stage to stage.
